We understand that ministry leaders are busy serving in the mission of their organization and often don't have the time, experience, or understanding to tackle certain type of projects to the best of their ability. At Kinsmen, we've made it our goal to come alongside these leaders to provide both training and assistance on projects that fall within our area of expertise which we call FCO - Facilities, Construction, Operations. We realize that we can't offer a one-size-fits-all solution for the organizations that we serve since they are often very different from one another in size, staff, budgets, time, and expectations so we've put together a broad range of offerings that we hope can be a help to you and your organization as you seek to serve God and your community.

Facility Audits

 

One of our primary goals in our work is to remove the distractions in your ministry related to facilities and operations. 

​

While the church is certainly not defined as the building itself, there is a very real need for buildings, facilities, and spaces to create the a helpful and un-distracting environment for ministry to occur. The simplest, and often time most common example of this is HVAC. If your space is too hot or too cold, it can become a significant distraction to your ministry work and it's really often unnecessary and easily avoided through appropriate preventative maintenance work and planning.

Web-Based Facility Management App

At the core of stewarding your facilities well is your ability to plan and track tasks, drawings, purchases, maintenance events, photos of damage, and many other types of information in a centralized location that is accessible from anywhere in the world. 

 

At Kinsmen, we use a publicly available web-based work management platform that your ministry has complete control over. We take on the task of setting up your facilities in the app, training your team on using the app, and we can provided periodic check-ups and training for new staff to ensure the system is used properly. 

 

The software we utilize solves many problems in communication and planning and we're confident it will set your team up for success in planning and tracking facility maintenance related tasks and goals. 

 

Create a centralized database for all:

- Equipment data, manuals, drawings

- Photos

- Preventative maintenance tasks

- Repair tasks

- Capital improvement budget forecasting

- Architectural drawings, room finishes (carpet, paint, door hardware, etc)

Construction Services

 

Design:

In the design phase of your project, our team is available to assist with a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to:

• Conceptual renderings

• Floor plan design and consultation

• Value and efficiency review (ensuring the project is not over-designed and that the project will meet the organizations needs)

• Contractor and architect interview and selection

• Budgeting assistance

• Schedule development

• Marketing and fundraising guidance

Pre-construction:

After the design is finalized, bid documents are prepared by the selected architect and contractors are solicited to provide competitive bids, or a construction management firm is selected. Our services during this phase of your project can include:

• Bid review and leveling (ensuring bids are "apples to apples")

• Value engineering (making changes to the design to meet performance or budgetary goals)

• Contract review and negotiation

• Subcontractor interviews and selection

• Project scheduling

Construction:

Once physical work on your construction site commences, our team can provide the following services:

• Project quality audits (periodic site inspections to ensure work is being performed at the highest level)

• Project safety audits (periodic site inspections to ensure workers are safe and utilizing the appropriate protective equipment)

• Project schedule audits (periodic review of the project schedule to ensure milestone dates are being met and project is on track for the scheduled occupancy date)

• Change order review

Occupancy:

After you have obtained you certificate of occupancy and your team has moved into the space, we are still here to serve you with:

• Periodic and preventative maintenance plan development

• Facilities and equipment training

• Assistance in addressing warranty issues within one year of completion

• Closeout document review
